Taken near 1 California Ave at 5pm. I had a very busy work day today, but on my way to get some coffee I saw this scene and couldn't help shooting it. I was concerned because I usually like high contrast and the sun had already set, but it turned out well anyway.

Taken at noon on Kearny. I walked by and noticed how this couple was bathed in light while everything around them was very dark. The color version, even though highly saturated through the high contrast, looks much more interesting than the original b/w version.

Taken on 2nd street near Bryant at 6pm. I had no time today so I shot this photo in the two minutes when walking to a photo store to get a few supplies. Because it was dark I shot at ISO1600. I saw this guy (?) across the street. The image only turned out interesting after heavily cropping it and keeping focus on the black box and the grain.

The Bread and the City Pidgeons

Shot after sunset on Market Street. I was a little bit in a rush today, but on the way home I saw the guy sitting in the back on the otherwise empty park benches and the pidgeons picking on bread. It was intriguing enough for me to stop and take a few shots. The absence of light and dark, contrasty shadows and the light blues and oranges made me ignore my usual high contrast black and white habits and go for mid-tones instead (in b/w, in case you are interested). Does it bother anyone that the bread is dead-center?
